Hi there, I’m Roisin

Hello one and all, my name is Roisin (sounds like 'Rosh-een') and I am a native English speaker from Northern Ireland (UK). I am a former NMC registered nurse and a qualified English teacher. I have over 20 years experience working in large NHS teaching hospitals in Belfast, London & Manchester (UK) and I also spent the last few years of my nursing career working in a new hospital in Doha, Qatar.

I worked in various clinical areas including a busy level 3 NICU in central London and I specialised as a nurse educator in 2009. Subsequently, I undertook a PGCE (Postgraduate teaching qualification) in 2012 to enhance my teaching & assessing skills.

 

Since then, I have had a wealth of experience in nursing leadership roles designing and delivering various curriculums. These curriculums included induction & preceptorship programmes for new staff and various staff development courses. I have also interviewed numerous healthcare staff for new jobs and have written multiple policy & procedure documents.

 

In 2020, I was ready for a change of career and I began teaching English online and obtained my CELTA qualification in 2022. This was a great way of using my transferable skills and being able to pursue my passion for English. I currently work for a large TEFL platform as an online freelance teacher and also do classroom-based in person teaching at a local language school. I have completed over 3000 lessons online.
